It was wonderful to have access to Wireless Traveler's international cell phone while on a three week trip to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. I was escorting a group of people booked through a Wisconsin travel agency to join up with a larger group in Melbourne, Australia. Part of the group started out together in Chicago and we were joined by four more people in Los Angeles. I was able to text the agency and let them know the entire group was on schedule for our international flight. Next I texted and let the agency know we had joined the large group in Melbourne and all was well.
Throughout the trip internet access was limited so I as well as others in my group used the phone to text friends and family to stay in contact.
As the time was nearing to spend our last two nights in Fiji, the news came that there was flooding and the Nadi airport we were to fly into was closed. It was full of stranded passengers. As time went on, the news worsened to add the possibility of a cyclone hitting the area. The tour company went to work to change our flights for home getting us out of New Zealand headed to the U.S. instead of departing from Fiji. Again I and others in my groups used the Wireless Traveler phone to let the agency and friends and family know about the change in schedules and that we were safe. There were car services to contact and connecting flights to arrange.
No one had to scramble to buy a phone card or pay outrageous rates to use a pay phone. Having the Wireless Traveler international phone was a wonderful thing to have and definitely helped ease our stress levels with the change of plans. We were able to let people know we were safe as well as the change of schedules. I know this phone will accompany me on all future international travel.

When preparing for a vacation everyone thinks of PMT passport, money and tickets. But what about staying connected when the unexpected happens.
When New Zealand experienced a 6.3 – magnitude earthquake on February 21 2011, thousands of stranded tourists weren’t all able to call home and let everyone know they were safe. Frances Heartwell, from Dallas Fort Worth Texas had been enjoying her month long trip to Australia and New Zealand when disaster struck.
“I had been standing in the heart of Christ Church only the day before the earthquake happened. We should have still been there but our itinerary was thankfully moved ahead by one day” said Heartwell.
“I was so thankful to have my Wireless Traveler global phone with me so I could get in touch with everyone and let them know I was safe. It was also a relief to know that it cost me a fraction of the price I would have paid with my regular iphone.”
“My travel companions also appreciated my phone as they didn’t bring one and their family was trying to reach them to let them know that some people had tried to break into their house”.
“Mrs. Heartwell’s experience is not an isolated case as we are seeing the same thing in Japan right now. A number of our customers are relying on their Wireless Traveler phone as their sole means of communication while they are being relocated.” said Brenda Benson, VP Marketing Wireless Traveler. “In today’s world, a global phone is critical for safety and security while traveling internationally, if only to be contactable and let friends and family know that all is well.” The low cost calling and reliable service in 200 countries with no contracts makes this an affordable and essential item that no international traveler should be without.

I have used the Wireless Traveler phone a lot in Morocco and in Kenya, worked brilliantly, actually called my wife at 1:30am when a lioness was in the Masai Mara Camp so my 3 yr old son could hear the roar... I was the only one with a signal... not even the guides had signal as camp is radio contact only.... My son and wife heard a lioness and Hyena fighting over a kill and heard the roar over your phone!! Ashish Sanghrajka, Big Five Tours & Expeditions

Safety and Security for Women Travelers
“Anyone traveling abroad in these days should always have a reliable low cost travel phone that doesn't cost $1 to $5 a minute to stay in touch. Safety and security is the number one motivator for women and parents of children (many travel agents and corporate executives) buying our Wireless Traveler global phones. Since, the volcano ash crisis, Chile earthquakes, high terror alerts, and airline crew strikes we have seen our sales and usage quadruple. We just had a number of people call us who were on the damaged Carnival Splendor cruise ship saying that the phone was god send”.
